Display Drive has stopped working and has recovered

I have received this message twice in the last month or so. I tried both times to download "Microsoft Fix It" but after the shut down and re-start I do not see anything new that could help me fix this issue. I have a laptop from HP and Windows 7. In addition I have been experiencing a lot of freezing lately, even several times a day. I am quite light with technical issues, therefore any help will have to be as simple to explain as possible. Thank you for any assistance, Ana

Hi when's the last time you cleaned out the vents and fan area? Could be caused by heat. Get a can of compressed air and blow out the vents and fan. Keep the can upright when using.

Thank you Oscer1, I have never cleaned it, but I am not sure that the air vents may be related. I never move the laptop from the desk, it is used as a PC and it lays flat on the desk. I have never updated drivers I do not know how to do it and if I need to do it. I get dozens of errors a day unrelated to the graphic display. Do you still think that the dust may have something to do with this? Thank you, AG

hi even if it sits on a hard flat surface still needs to be cleaned from time to time. so i would get it cleaned out first. heat can cause alot of problems. if its been over heated to many times it might be damaged that can't be repaired without swapping parts.
