I posted this a while back:

"If you have a fingerprint scanner and are testing the AuthenTec Biometric driver, be aware that their software actually logs your Windows password in plaintext!

You can find the log in

    C:\Program Files\WIN7TS\logging\TrueSuite.EnumWindowsUses.log
Nope, don't have this file, nor a logging folder inside WIN7TS for that matter. If the file you say does exist, judging by the names of the app files, it should be named C:\Program Files\WIN7TS\logging\TrueSuite.EnumWindowsUsers.log (Users not Uses).

Maybe they remedied this in the newest version available for download? (I only installed it a week ago.)

Indeed, the logging configuration says that the log files should end in .txt now - if you're still experiencing the issue, just modify AverIDLog.config and change minLevel to equal Fatal. That means only errors that kill the TrueSuiteApplication get logged.

Nope, the file name is .../../TrueSuite.EnumWindowsUses.log. I installed this back in January, so they might have changed it. I haven't updated the software since then. I'll check out the latest version.

the folder is there but nothing is inside. I think it was removed when I uninstalled and tried to reinstall.

For those who are getting the "Set-up Failure!" error, try running TrueSuiteApplication from C:\Program Files\WIN7TS. Set up your fingerprints there - it's the same user interface as what you'd get going through Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Biometric Devices.

Somehow, by using that and even going through the Control Panel after I did that, I don't get the "Set-up Failure!" error anymore. Might just have been a fluke, so it would be nice if some of you can try it out and see if it works.

BTW, this is on a HP tx2522AU tablet.
I am getting this error and tried this, but unfortunately it does not work. I've tried a few combinations of uninstalls/reinstalls, reboots, etc. to no avail.

Anyone have any other ideas on how to clear this error up?

I am using an Asus F3Sv-B1 laptop which has the AES1610 reader.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

The advice "try running TrueSuiteApplication from C:\Program Files\WIN7TS" worked for me on an HP 8710P running Windows 7 RC 7100, although I haven't a clue which part of the following accounted for the result. For public amusement, here's the steps that worked for me. 1) created an empty folder called WIN7TS in C:\Program Files; 2) used uniextractor (legroom.net) to unzip the beta install file ( W7Wbf64.exe ) obtained from win7beta.authentec.com - / into that folder; 3) then ran the setup.exe from there. Afterward, I could enrol prints successfully. The copy of the WIN7TS install file I obtained from win7beta.authentec.com was dated Tuesday, April 7th. I confess that running the setup file from any location at all, even from across the street at my Aunt Mildred's house, would probably have produced the same result.

Hi all, I have the same problem with my Fujitsu notebook too, the finger print show set-up failture when I want to creat my own profile, but there is a clue that it's work like a charm when I creat a new user and set up under the new user account, no matter administrator or guest, I have no idea why, I hope someone can find the solution or debug soon
