Windows 7 - Authentec Drivers

Authentec Drivers

Owners of HP tx1000 or Authentec biometric devices can now use them on Windows 7.

Authentec has released their drivers now updated to use the biometric framework.

Authentec for x86
AuthenTec | Win 7 Beta Download

Authentec for x64
AuthenTec | Win 7 Beta Download

When ready to try them, be sure that your fingerprint device is unistalled.

Then run the installer, wait reboot, then go to Biometric Devices control panel, click on Change Settings and select Biometrics On and check Allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints.

If anyone has resolved the tablet calibration issues please help me.

By the way, I tested this on my tx1000 and Elitebook 2730 and my wife's tx2z.

Don't work on HP 8710p

Can't get the biometrics to work on my HP 8710p:

Installation works fine. Device Manager shows "AuthenTec Inc., AES2501A" as properly working device.

Device can be found in the Biometrics Panel as well, but when trying to register fingerprints I get an "Set-Up Failure!" Message in the training window.

Any suggestions anyone?

You're right. Protect Tools work fine - nevertheless: I kind of hoped to get rid of them. I use them only for the Windows-Logon - so the tool is quite oversized for my needs. Furthermore the fingerprint-sensor always reacts when I accidentially touch it while typing. So I'd prefer it only to work when the Windows Logon is active - where the Win 7 internal Biometrics should do fine.

I've checked drivers you've posted. Working great, with windows biometrics too . Disable Credentials in Protect Tools to Log on, enroll fingerprints through Windows Biometrics and it should work.

And if you get a set-up failure try to clean reader surface.

Same error as you Marc with HP 6730b. Has anyone else encountered this issue and perhaps found a workaround?

password

*** Scratch that! it worked with a blank password ***

Hi, the link asks for a password. Could you share this or the 32 bit driver?

Thanks!

That one's new...

I just tried it and got the password right with the first try.
(I'm still laughing...)

Hint: the passwort-requester suggests the group of people by whom it's supposed to be used. Use this (9 letters, all lowercase) as password.

Have fun,
Marc

Fingerprint Unlock?

I have the 64-bit beta drivers from Authentec installed and fingerprint authentication is working great on initial boot and after I lock the screen as long as I'm not gone long enough for my laptop to hibernate. Upon resume the it will not unlock using fingerprint. I always have to click other credentials and enter the password. Anyone else having this problem?

Using built-in in fingerprint authentication.

Workaround for the problem with my fingerprint reader on windows resume. There is a hotfix for Vista but the workaround works for Windows 7.

You have problems after you resume a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep or from hibernation
