    usb won't work

My brother laptop stop working, he's got a hp pavilion v6 with window 7 but had no recovery cd. I took my gateway laptop window 7 recovery cd to try to repair-fix his problem, could not fix it so I did a format install of window 7 with my cd. Downloaded every driver from the hp site and install them, Everything work exept the usb. None of the usb work on his hp pavilion In devise manager every one of them got the question marks. Uninstall them, restart the laptop but nothing works. I try every driver I could download for his laptop

    Any suggestion

    Thanks

    Welcome to Sevenforums, Savage31.

This could possibly be an issue in the Bios settings.
Boot up your computer and on the post screen you will see which key to hit to enter the Bios settings.
Generally it is something like F2 or the DELete key.
Once in the Bios, check the tabs across the top till you find a relevant one with USB settings.
Hopefully it has one and you just need to toggle the setting to on.
Don't forget to save any settings you may change.

Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)
    Recommended resolution

The driver returned a failure when it executed the DriverEntry routine. Reinstall the drivers for this device.

    Uninstall and reinstall the driver

Uninstall the driver from Device Manager, and then scan for new hardware to install the driver again. You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware manufacturer’s Web site.

    1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
    2. Restart your computer.

Have you tried these drivers - Chipset Driver Intel Ver.8.3.0.1010.zip - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

BTW It would be extremely helpful if we knew what motherboard you had. The drivers I list are based on this info you provide....

Intel (R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Vontroller - 2934
    the other are 2935-2936-2937-2938-2939-293a-293c
    But its a guess

    Thanks.

Hmmm..... I'm not able get anything from the info you provided for the motherboard.

    Sorry.

Anyway I suggest you visit HP's website and see if you can find the chipset drivers. Something like what I linked to, but they would be coming from HP.

    Good luck.

Did you try the fixit? Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows
And do you have a number for the notebook? DV6 is apparently not right
