I have come up against an issue with XP mode which loads XP SP3.

Thge Toshiba drivers work under SP3. but the INSTALLER does not!!

It will install on any XP2 machine, but not the XP3 Virtual machine withing XP Mode.

Any suggestions?

How can I 'roll back' XP SP3 that Microsoft sold me with windows 7 to XP2 status - there is no UPGRADE folder or anything similar so must be an integrated build??

I have loads of stuff painstaking loaded on the XPE now so dont really want to, nor am in confident in how to, do another Virtual machine with XP SP2 even if I knew where to get hold of a copy without spending more money.

Assuming I have understood what you are trying to do, the only way I can think of is to install an XP2 virtual machine, install the drivers, and then upgrade it to SP3. Then you can copy your stuff over.

You can still get all the required updates etc here;

This site is in German, but the update packs are the standard ones.

You can't blame Windows if various drivers / installers from manufacturers don't work/aren't available.

Thank you Mike - sadly the XP that Microsoft supply to enable the XP virtual machine in Windows 7 is version SP3 - seems not to have been made up of XP, plus SP1, Plus SP2 plus SP3. So there is no 'updates' folder to allow for winding back by removing the updates. Looks like I will have to setup a virtual machine from scratch and install XP SP 2 which I know works.

I have never set up a virtual machine other than by allowing Windows to do it for me in Windows 7. So should be fun - the Microsoft website is not a lot of help it seems.
