I believe all indications are that this PCI card is not supported by Creative under Win7.

Anything you can manage to get to work by virtue of using Vista drivers (if they were available), or Win7 drivers for another card that just happens to also work for this one... well, there's really no guarantee you're going to be satisfied with the result.

I had an Audigy/2 card (also PCI) I wanted to used in my Win7 system because I'd really grown to like its sound over the many years I used it in a number of WinXP systems. Well, it was just unsupported in Win7.

Now I had built myself a brand new machines, which had both PCI and PCI-e slots on the ASUS P5Q3 motherboard. It also had onboard Realtek ALC1200 sound as well that I could have used. So I had a few options.

Well, when the Audigy/2 would not install I tried the Realtek chip to see if I'd accept it, but honestly was not satisfied with the sound.

I finally decided to buy a basic but competent Creative X-Fi Titanium (SB0880) PCI-e card which had good reviews, and which of course IS supported by Creative under Win7. And when I got it installed it also sounded great to me.

So that's what I'm using in that machine ever since going to Win7, an X-Fi Titanium PCI-e card.

So, maybe it's just time to look for another sound solution for your environment, which will work with your hardware but also IS supported by Win7 and Creative.

    Hi dsperber

the x-fi extreme gamer was recomended 2 me by a few people in the bfbc comunity im in. they all hav the same card workin in win7, using the pax modded drivers. thats what made me think the card was dud. but googling the failing boot. i found a few threads in forums saying that if the s card was to come out of a HP machine it would work but not if its out of a dell machine. this 1 was out of a dell machine. so i put in another card i bought the same day. which was x-fi soundblaster sb0670. it went straight in n booted up nicely. just leaving the drivers. i used the same driver set and it installed n runs with no probs.
thanks a lot for ur advice. much apreciated
