Windows 7 - Problem with driver for the local area connection

Hi,

I hope someone can help with this because i am going stare crazy with this.
Last night i used my computer and surfed the web as normal without any issues. I go to bed, get up in the morning and notice my pc has rebooted. I think nothing of it as i thought it was just an update. I go to work, come home and log in. I try to get on internet and nothing. Red x down the bottom corner in the network toolbar. Ok, ill open it up and fix it, ive done it many times before. However this time it won't work, i get the following message:

The wired network adapter is experiencing problems.

So i click next in the diagnostics tool and when it gets to troubleshooting has completed i get the following message:

problems found
there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter

I have rebooted, restored to a previous point changed cables etc but to no avail. I checked the driver in device manager to make sure it was the right one and was working and it all seems fine.

Ive had a read through here hoping i could find someone else who has had the same problem but the only one i found had internet access but not fully. I have no internet access, ive even tried connecting wirelessly to my router but that doesnt work.

Im currently on my laptop which is work btw.

Any ideas? Ive tried finding the drivers online but all i seem to find is sites that i can download an auto driver fixer which is no good when i have no internet access on my pc for it to work. I need the driver.

Network adapter is

Realtek RTL8168D/8111D family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)
