need Sony battery or driver compatible with windows 7 64 bit

I upgraded my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ190 to windows 7 64 bit
and bought a new battery which would not work.
All the battery sites I've seen and Sony say the VGP-BPS8 type batteries are not compatible with windows 7 64 bit.
Is there a driver solution anyone knows of?
Is there a battery that is compatible?

Is VGN-FZ190 your laptop model or the number from the battery? It is possible the new batt needs to charge for a few hours before first use as well. I don't know why a battery would have any compatibility issues with any OS. It is a simple power source.

Plase post system specs, HERE's how.

Battery Software Update Solved (for us, anyway)

Boot a 32-bit windows OS from a CD or USB drive. Run the app from that environment. Worked like a charm for us, and avoids the hassle of installing a 32-bit OS in a separate partition or installing from a different hard drive with a 32-bit OS.
