    Hi neverall.
    The answer is "exactly". :)
My question is: Why a update to IE8 if you have
IE9 installed? The Internet Explorer 9 installation overwrites the previous one...

If the update for IE8 keeps appearing just hide it.

If you would post the KB number of the update we can see if we can help you get it installed.

Updates will show for IE8 because it is written into Win7 and is part of Win7.

WinXP can still send updates for IE5 because that is written into the OS even though you can be using IE7 or IE8 on WinXP.

I've been using IE9 since it came out.

Sometimes they are marked IE8 and sometimes IE9.
I think it has to do with if the update needs to be added to the "systems registry" or just to the IE9 "browser/install".

Best way I can explain it.

Either way it is possibly a security update and should be installed.
