    HP 1010 Lazerjet drivers

    That's easy

All You have to do is download the vista 64 bit driver for the hp 1010 lazerjet
Then extract the files and manually install the drivers for the HP
when asked which driver you want to install you select the HP 1015 driver
and your HP 1010 will work in Win7 Premium addition.

Hello, I am running Windows 7 x64 and have the HP1010 connected to another computer (running XP 32-bit) and I can't install the remote printer. Using the Vista 64 bit driver I can use the printer locally. Previously I was running Windows 7 32 bit and then I successfully used the remote printer.

But the combination of 64-bit and remote printer seems impossible. I wonder if there is anyone out there who has been successful with the same combo?

Thanks, but my problem is not directly related to file sharing. I can connect to other (newer) printers on the network, but not the HP 1010.

As I said, it worked with remote printer when I was on 32 bit win 7, and it works now with 64 bit Win 7 if I connect the hp1010 directly to my computer.

I had the same problem. But am now able to print.

The simplest solution is the following:

1 - Connect the USB printer in Windows 7 64 bit, it is detected as a device not specified.
2 - Click your right mouse button to go to "properties", click "Hardware" and again "properties". Click "change settings" in this new window.
3 - In the window that appears, click "update driver" select "find a driver on my computer" then "choose from a list of device drivers on my computer."
4 - In the list that appears, select "Printers."
5 - In the Add Printer Wizard that appears, select the course and choose the HP model HP LaserJet 3055 PCL5. Click "Next" and the driver is downloaded automatically. HP 1010 works perfectly with this driver (what HP is careful not to communicate, since we sell a maximum!).

The printer will appear in devices such as HP 3055, which has no importance. You can rename it if you want (right click and "printer properties") but that is irrelevant.

    Easy Solution

    Dear All,
After trying everything, compatibility mode etc. I found this solution after googling. and it is working like charm..
    1. Go to add devices and printer and Add HP laserjet 5200L printer, if win7 does not have the driver download it from HP LaserJet 5200 Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center
    2. assign this printer as default printer after intallation.

    It should work fine.
    thanks.

    I wanted to connect to a HP1010 connected to an XP machine over a network from my Windows 7 64 bit latop, here's how I did in (eventually);

Firstly I installed it locally on my laptop as a HP3055 as per post #30 (lyjo) and checked it was printing fine while connected to my laptop.

Plugged it back into the XP machine where the printer was shared.

    Now do the following;

    Devices & Printers
right click on printer select Printer Properties
    Ports tab
    Add Port
    Local Port
    New Port
enter "//[machine name]/[sharename]" as the port (actually backslash but can't type it into the forum)
    OK
    OK

You should be able to print a test page over the network now, though I took a reboot before everything worked properly.
I have exactly the same configuration as you and this works perfectly. Thanks a lot!

But I must say I hate HP even more now since it's clear their nonsupport of this product doesn't have technical basis, but it's just pure greed for our money.
