    Hi and welcome.

Have you tried the HP site? Have you googled for example your model + drivers?

    How To Find Drivers:
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Is this a laptop from some years back? Purchased originally with WinXP installed? Possibly with Vista?

These legacy machines are often not supported going forward for other than the OS that was sold pre-packaged with the unit.

It may be quite a challenge to find drivers that are suitable for this hardware, chipsets, video, etc., if it's not directly supported by Win7 out-of-the-box in a fresh install of Win7, or offered for separate download by the laptop manufacturer.

Quite often the Vista drivers can be used on Win7, but there's certainly no guarantee.

If Win7 itself finishes its install with lots of devices NOT installed properly and without having drivers (i.e. having yellow question marks in Device Manager), this is a strong indication that you're probably in for quite a battle to find drivers for the hardware. Better prepare yourself for doom, but good luck trying to seek out the Win7-usable drivers you need.

Either live with the original Windows on the laptop, or upgrade to a new laptop, may be your only options.

    Specs on that laptop,

HP 510 Notebook PC specifications - HP Small & Medium Business Products

The only thing available for that laptop from HP are XP drivers,

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...&swEnvOID=1093

there is a couple of Vista driver listed, but none of them are what you are looking for and they are 64 bit. Try using the XP drivers from HP for those three devices. Yo9u may have to use compatibility mode to get them to install,

    Compatibility Mode

As far as the taskbar not being transparent and other Aero effects, that isn't going to happen as there are no Windows 7 drivers available for it as Intel never made one,

Graphics — Older Intel® graphics controllers and Microsoft Windows 7* operating system

so the XP driver is the only option for this.

HP 510 Notebook PC - Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center - video/graphics

HP 510 Notebook PC*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center - audio

HP 510 Notebook PC*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center - LAN/ethernet drivers

Not sure what to tell you for the modem driver, as HP doesn't list one. Better question would be, do you even use it, as in when was the last time you used it for a dial up connection or possibly for sending a fax?

I have an HP 510 laptop which has been running Win7 fine for years with just a 1gb RAM upgrade. It does not have aero, but then it is an old laptop I use on the beach.

The drivers which I have on file which are not supplied by installer are the same as Stormy linked just above. You'll need to download them then rightclick to Run As Admin. If any balk you may need to run them in XP Compatibility Mode and/or browse from Device Manager to their extracted folder in C: root to pick up the driver.

Modem driver is almost always the outdated FAX modem built into older computers. You can disable it in Device Manager.

LAN is for the built-in wireless which works fine here. Even if you use a wire at home it will come in handy if you take it somewhere with you.
