upgraded from xp.. but have no sound

    Hi
I have windows 7 started in my netbook, i like it.
So i decided to upgrade to window 7 on my pc also.
    I had xp before.
Windows 7 is installed & I havnt had to install a graphics card driver, or an internet driver.. they seem ok.. i think.
    But I have no sound.
I tried to install my intel chipset cd and drivers, but windows 7 says they arent compatible.
How to i go about getting a sound driver ?
The Intel cd is called ''P5L-MX/P5LD2 SE' (if that helps)

Also please can you tell me if you think i am mising any other drivers (or motherboard stuff) that i need to download?

    Thank You

You could go to the PC manufacturer's support site and look for the driver download link. Just as an example, here's the site for Dell and one for Sony. The manufacturer usually knows what driver is compatible with their own computers and if drivers are available for Windows 7.

You could also see if Windows Updates can automatically find any newer drivers.

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly

You could also go to the hardware manufacturer's website. they usually have drivers available. If you're not sure who manufactured the hardware you could use a tool like Speccy or SIW that will give you the details.

Finally, you could try an independent company like Driver Max, Driver Genius, etc. They can scan your machine, locate newer drivers, and guide you through the installation process. Some are free with limited functionality (two driver downloads a day), while others require you to purchase their software. Problem with these companies is they may not have the latest drivers available.

Here is the audio driver for your mother board ... You will need to install it in Windows XP compatibility mode..
Compatibility mode allows a older program written for an earlier versions of Windows to possibly run in Windows 7. You can also use Compatibility mode to always have a program to Run as an administrator.

Try the Intel download site. It will install some software on your computer, run an Intel Driver Utility scan, and if an Intel driver is available it will install.

Ok ... here is a direct link for your driver ... extract the contents to your desktop .. right click on the setup.exe file and click on properties/compatibility ... choose Windows Xp/ click apply, then run setup.exe ...

Intel can scan you computer and look for updated drivers, BIOS, utilities, firmware, patches, other updates, plug-ins and other support software. In the large blue box (upper left corner) you can click on "Run Intel Driver Update Utility". It will open a new page with a "Check your system for the latest updates" button. If you click on this it will download and install needed software from System Requirements Lab/Husdawg. Once the software is installed you can scan your computer and Intel can let you know if newer drivers are available for your machine. You can then decide if you want to install the newer drivers or not. If you decide you don't want to keep the installed software on your machine you can go to control panel > programs and features and look for either System Requirements Lab or Husdawg. Click on it > uninstall.
