Windows 7: HP Setup.exe willnot run.

HP Setup.exe willnot run.

I downloaded the HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One Printer - C309a software package. Once it extracts it stops running. When I go to the folder and run the Setup.exe file I get the circle on the pointer which makes me believe it is trying to run but then nothing happens. There seem to be sevelar threads about this being a problem with Windows 7 / IE8 but none that I have found have a solution. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

I assume you got this from the official HP support website ? I would suggest you write to them as I have found them to be quite helpful in the past (unlike their hardware support LOL ) - just a suggestion.

This page has installation Wizard. Follow directions and hook things up, download Wizard (1MB) and it will find, download and install the proper driver on most models.
This is the Win 7 version Wizard.

You might try running as Administrator with the device unplugged. Many scanners and printers want you to have the device unplugged and will tell you when to plug it in.
