    Sound Drivers

    Hi there again,

My microphone has recently decided to not work at all, only static goes through on skype and when I use sound recorder the bar telling you how loud you are is full.

It sounds like a simple driver reinstall, but I cannot find the drivers anywhere:/
Also is it just a sound driver I need to reinstall? In DevMan there are two drivers I can update, and they are both simply "High Definition Audio Device".

Does anyone know a good site for drivers? I can't believe how hard these are to find:S

    Thanks,
    Stubbyhs

That means you never had the driver installed to begin with and it was/is just using the default Windows driver, which is enough to provide basic audio.

As for what driver you need, have you gone to your laptop manufacturer's website and checked there?

The light blue is the generic Microsoft sound driver, the bolded bit is the audio device itself. With that you can go here,

    PCI Vendor and Device Lists

enter the vendor ID and find that it is Realtek audio. With that bit of info you can then go directly to Realtek,

Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

to get the latest driver. You could also have gone to the laptop manufacturer's support/download pages and looked up the laptop's model number ans found it that way.

Okay 2 issues after investigation there.

Firstly, I followed that site. The first link wouldn't work, just redirected me to the previous page once I hit next. I had cookies enabled. The second link brought me to a page that supposedly had downloadable links on it, but it says javascript:void(0); .

The second issue is that after having this problem, I entered the product ID into the PCI Vendor site and it brought up NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller.

I found what I am looking for here, but i just thought I'd ask anyways:)

Sorry if I have been incredibly stupid.

    Thanks,
