    Welcome to Seven Forums reyes.

Does the CD/DVD show in your Computer window after inserting it? Do you hear it running after inserting a disk?
Go to Start>Contol Panel>Device Manager and click on DVD/CD-ROM Drives, right click on your drive, Properties, driver. Click uninstall driver and reboot, Windows should install the driver when you boot up. See if that works.

       Note
There are many models of HPdv 9000

Does the DVD drive appear in the Computer window? You need to go to Device Manager to see if it is listed.
If you sent it to be "fixed", I would take it back and tell the "techs" they broke it.

To help u to help you, please complete your system specs. Here's how:

    UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

Use Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.

Do me a favor and add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

    thanks,
    karl
