What OS was installed on it before you installed the Windows 7 64bit?

You will need drivers for the Win 7 64bit or Vista 64bit.

Check the Gateway web site Gateway Official Site: Notebooks, Laptops, Desktops, All-in-Ones, Displays, Monitors, Accessories
Click the Support tab at top of page then select Drivers and Downloads.
Find them for your model for Windows 7 64bit or Vista 64bit.

Vista normally works in 64bit if no Win7 64bit is available.

You may need to try compatibility mode for Vista drivers.

i have downloaded the recommended SATA AHCI Driver from gateway Here

    http://support.gateway.com/product/?cmpid=topnav
and tried to install them and after its Almost finished installing i get this message
This Operating System is Not Supported Setup will Now Exit

this is the driver i have used in the past when i was running just Vista but it wont work with Windows 7 i just ran the compatibility checker it tried to install it again but this time i got this message
This Computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software Setup will now Exit

i have not changed any hardware just the operating system

Here is why it won't work. It is a 32bit driver and you need a 64bit.
Gateway does not supply a 64bit driver.

So you can download and Save the driver then right click and try compatability mode as I posted the link above.

    I see no other option.

Try running the Intel Updater from here:

    Try what theog posted.

He evidenly knows it is Intel hardware which I did not know or find on the Gateway sight.

That should give you the most up to date proper driver.

Here is hoping and good luck.

It's not the SATA driver -- its the card reader driver. Available at that same website (Gateway Support - Downloads & Support Documents) Don't forget to change the "Operating System" selection to Windows 7 to filter out all the incompatible drivers.
