Bluetooth Problem on Dell XPS M2010  

Hi all, hoping someone can help.

I have just installed the HP version of Windows 7 on my Dell XPS M2010 only to find that the bluetooth keyboard isn't working... or, more properly, that it shows that it's syncing properly with the main unit (keyboard light is on indicating that bluetooth works) but I am unable to type anything.

I've been told that my bluetooth card is Broadcom 335 and I've downloaded the driver from Broadcom, but it can't seem to detect any device. I've tried the Toshiba Bluetooth stack for W7, and that has the same problem.

Any advice?

Perhaps the abbreviation is misleading.. I've installed Windows 7 Home Premium, retail OEM.

No problem. I can't even actually get the driver to install. Every time I try to install it, the installation stops at the point where it begins to search for a bluetooth device and I can't get any further. Even though the bluetooth keyboard light is on, indicating that it is synced with the unit, it doesn't seem that it can be discovered. Since this problem only started on installing Windows 7, I'm guessing that it's related to some sort of incompatibility? The compatibility tool gave no indication that it would be a problem though...

No, I called Dell but they couldn't resolve it and said it was a software problem. They don't have the bluetooth driver listed on their website anymore and couldn't tell me where to get it or even what hardware was installed (it's not showing up in the device manager).

They said that I should call Microsoft since it should work properly in both Vista and 7 and that it was a software problem. I'm on vacation, so haven't had the chance to try and work it out with Microsoft yet.

If you do install 7, let me know if you find similar issues.

I had the same problem and googled my way to this site and was very very worried i'd have to go back to Vista but good news!!

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and downloaded the Dell Mouse drivers from Welcome to Dell Support. i used Vista 32 for the os and you'll find under - Input Device Drivers - the mouse drivers. I let this fully install and tried connecting, but no luck, found this thread and thought i was doomed. I downloaded the AMD Graphics driver and the system restarted and said i'd see what i could do about the bluetooth. I clicked on the bluetooth icon, bottom right of the screen above arrow and clicked add device, it found the keyboard straight away, it supplied a passcode which i could enter(this happened previously but still didn't load the drivers that time) and i left it and it's working fine now, did the same with the mouse and again no problems. all i can think i did was, intall the dell vista drivers, restarted and connected one device at a time. I hope this gives you hope and that it works for you.

I’m having the same issues with my dell xps m2010 and getting the Bluetooth to work. It work with vista 32 pro, but didn’t work with vista ultimate. I now just installed windows 7.
Where did you get the AMD Graphics driver, and was it for vista 32?

The link on my previous Post ("welcome to dell support") enter home user, then drivers and software and enter the XPS M2010 from the drop downs on the next screen enter Vista 32 and all the drivers will be there, under video you find the ATI Radeon Mobility X1800, thats the one i used and its perfect, i too had Vista Ultimate and everything worked fine with that, also all the drivers for the bluetooth will be there. I don't think installing the Graphics driver had anything to do with the bluetooth, think it was the restart after i installed it so when you have installed the main bluetooth driver, restart your system before you install the mouse and keyboard :)

Actually a clean install of Windows 7 fixed the problem. The bluetooth is now working fine. I had to manually re-install the sound card driver, but other than that Windows 7 caught everything.

Upgrading from Vista doesn't seem to work for XPS bluetooth and Dell doesn't offer the driver anymore, so do a clean install
