    SD Card reader issue

ok, i have a emachine 6810 with a built in media reader. i use to run windows xp, and i had no issues reading any type of non hc sd card(2GB was my max i believe) now under windows 7(and yes i tried this under vista at one point) i can not read my 2gb card. my 256 will read, but not the 2GB. i have looked in vain for a replacement driver to the generic media reader drivers for win7, but to no avail. any one able to help me out?

You can try installing the XP driver in compatibility mode.

    Compatibility Mode

Generally, the two main driver makers for SD cards are Ricoh and TI. You can download their drivers (just google) and see if they work, If you know what brand the card reader is let us know, you can also check in device manager.

been there done that....no good.....seems from what searching i have been doing is that this issue has come up a time or two, any sd card at or under 1gb has no issues for vista/7; 2gb has issues. as for which brand, even win7 has no clue...its using the generic drivers for mmc, cfc and msc for the reader.

Dunno, maybe try out with a different card or use an external card reader.

external reader works fine. win 7 installed different drivers for it, its like win7's mmc driver(which i THINK is the culprit) doesnt recognize that the card is a sd card....
and its any card at 2gb or over....i stick my 256 in and i can read just fine....

there are different types of sd cards, make sure your card reader is able to read your type.
