How?
A fair amount of web searching finally yielded a driver for the EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card from Linksys. Model lme100tx v5.1. Except for a few modifications I did the same thing as every other 'fix' I attempted - downloaded the driver onto the flash drive, used 7-zip to extract it, plugged it into the other PC, installed it, got an error, ran a diagnostic, let the diagnostic repair the installation, and I was good to go.
Have rebooted probably about 40 times since then, and it is still working like a charm.
I am sorry, it is just that I assumed since the device was used on Windows 98, and here we are with Windows 7, over 10 years difference, that you would not be able to find a driver for it, I mean if lots of people are having issues with XP to Windows 7 driver-wise, I kind of find it unbelievable you were able to do so. Anyways, great job, you are extremely lucky to have found a working driver...
most of the time you motherboard has an onboard vga (graphics) os even if you take out the after market vga you can still plug into the motherboard but i do understand that not all motherboardds have the onboard vga if it does not then inform us please. also if you can download a program called sliwdriver by slimware utilities and see if that works
It's not most of the time. Out of over 180 AMD motherboards available for purchase on newegg.com, more than 80 of them do not have onboard video. Of the 360 plus intel boards, over 300 do not have onboard video.
