    NVIDIA Graphics Drivers Stopped Responding

    Hi all,

    I was playing Assassin's Creed (about 10 minutes ago) when this started. Every minute or so, the screen blacks out for about 3 seconds before coming back again. A message pops up saying the display drivers have stopped responding and then have recovered again. The problem is getting more frequent by the minute and now blacks out after about 20 seconds.

    Will updating my drivers fix this problem? I'm pretty pissed though as I assassinated one of the main 'dudes' in AC and now I've got to do it all over again. Any ideas? I've attached a screenshot of the problem.

    Thanks,
    Jaidyn

    Hello Jaidyn.

    You're using NVIDIA's latest driver, which appears to be problematic if reports are to be believed.

    Try rolling back to the previous version: 270.61. as going for the latest driver all the time can be counter-productive until any bugs have been ironed out.

    You might want to consider whether you've over-clocked too much?

    I fully agree, the 275.33 has caused flickering and lines on a display. No problems with the 270.61 though. About every 2nd nVIDIA driver seems to be buggy lately.

    Thanks for the help guys. Well then, I'm off to kill 'the big dude' once again.

    EDIT:
    @seavixen32 No, I don't overclock. :)

    The odd bit for me is that 270.61 started doing this for me, and I updated to 275.33 and it stopped... What a strange thing.

    Good luck with your game

    This is a TDR Timeout event, more @ Nvidia NVIDIA Statement on TDR Errors - NVIDIA Forums
    Its mostly caused by a badly installed driver or bad RAM/GPU/PSU

    Makes me think it's a bad driver then, still, since I haven't had the issue since...
