Upgrading from xp to windows 7

Hello all ok so simply put how can u force install drivers, i have a toshiba sat L25-s1194 and everything works but the sound and graphics drivers i have the xp drivers for both of those and was wondering if i can force install them, i have a Radoen x200m graphics card in here, im up to any ideas at this point

Ps. I dont want to start a forum battle at all ,i just have a simple question and if someone can answer me that would rock :) Ok so microsoft has been around for awhile yet everytime they come out with a new operating system it always disappoints me, so i have been using all forms of linux operating systems for awhile now ubuntu, redhat, debian and one thing they all have in common is when u install them u can just know that everything will work and that all the drivers are just there the first time you boot up, so my question is if linux can do it why the HELL does windows make you install drivers am i not getting something here or is it that everyone has grown accustomed to microsoft being shoved up their ass and gosh how about the ones that like that , and are you to caught up on oh praise bill gates and the mighty microsoft to stop and think and demand that we get better!!!!!

    Sincerely S.B.

First thing you can try is the Windows Upgrade advisor Here. This will give you a complete rundown of your system & any issues that may occur & ways to resolve them.

After installation I would (always) advise thay you download the latest driver for sound/GFX from the manufacturers website.

Even with Linux you should still go grab the latest drivers from the manufacturer to be safe. As for forcing XP drivers to install on Windows 7, no... that is a bad idea. However, if you can find Windows Vista drivers they work perfectly in many cases. ATI/nVidia/Intel have all released Windows 7 graphics drivers already. I'm still waiting on new chipset drivers myself as the Vista ones caused some problems :P

    Hey SB

Well lets see, forcing the xp driver will not work. You can force an unsigned driver, but it needs to communicate between the hardware, and os, so no.

Linux just works, um, no. its either works or never will. Many ppl find they have no wifi and cant get any no matter what. I happen to like ubuntu myself but i think both os'es need some better written drivers

hey there ..well, i can tell you that you will be able to install the drivers as my second machine is a dell dimension3000(crap). i installed W7 first then had to buy a PCI gfx card(nvidia geforcefx 5500) so that aero was able to work. i installed drivers for it thru safe mode. that is what i was told to do if there were installation problems thru normal install of drivers. i didnt upgrade drivers...only used what is on install disc. no problems at all. i ran it at first with 512 ram onboard graphics and a 20 gig hdd....ran perfectly...no problems. so i upped the graphics so i can get aero...still no problems...upped ram to 1 gig...no problems...ran ok .now faster with upgrades.
install in safe mode with uac off. worked for me.

Try using a modified driver. They expand the inf for more cards.

You can start your search at these two places :)

    Mobility Radeon Drivers and Support
TWeaKFoRCe.CoM your source for the latest Video Drivers

I've used the ones from Tweakforce on my fiance's laptop, but that was under XP. I haven't actually verified that either of these sites have W7 drivers for you, I'm just saying I know these are both reputable mod sites :P
