Basic graphics not rendering on Lenovo Thinkpad x61t

I am a graduate student who uses PyMOL and FoldIt for work. I am able to run those applications, but the "graphical viewer" (where I would see the macromolecule) will appear transparent and show only content from the underlying background application (see attachment)

This is not unique to such programs, but also to low-graphical resource games such as UltraStar Deluxe. I believe it is a software/driver problem because the same computer is able to correctly render PyMOL sessions when running Kubuntu Linux.

My computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad x61t. The graphics card is a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, which I understand is integrated with the motherboard. I'm running DirectX 11. I am running the most recent driver from Lenovo, a proprietary version of the Intel driver; I am unable to install the generic Intel driver as an .exe, but I can choose the "Have Disk" option to supply the path to the .inf file. Unfortunately, that does not resolve the problem. I initially suspected (from reading other complaints) that the problem might have something to do with the Lenovo driver not supporting OpenGL, but I don't know much about that and am unable to change the driver in any case.

This issue has persisted on multiple reformats and reinstallations of Windows 7 on this laptop. If anyone can lead me to a solution, this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Strangely enough, removing the drivers and having Windows automatically update them solved it. It only took a few hours after I made this post, but trust me, I spent months on Google trying to figure this out!
