    Please help!

I just got a new Seagate 500gb hard drive and I'm trying like Hell to install windows 7 onto it and it keeps saying it cannot be installed on disk 0 partition 1 or 2. I'm about ready to throw it out the friggin window. It's a Dell Inspiron 1545. If anyone can help please do, it will be greatly appreciated!!

    STOP! Do not format yet.

    1. Is this the only HDD in your system or are you trying to install Windows to a secondary HDD?
A "new" HDD should not have partion 1 & 2.

    2. You don't have any System Specs posted.

The laptop I'm trying to install Windows 7 on w/ the new Seagate hard drive is not the one I'm using now so I have no way to go to My Computer etc...
All I can tell you is that it's a Dell Inspiron 1545 64 bit w/ the brand new 500gb hard drive and that's the only hard drive.

And thank you for welcoming me.

On an install, Windows will give you the option to format the drive. Did you select it on your first attempt?

You probably need to install the sata drivers first.

SATA Driver - Load in Windows 7 or Vista Setup
