when you clean install, do you have to reinstall all drivers also? or do you keep those? anything else I should know about clean install? that's what I plan on doing when my windows 7 gets here in october or so.

    Hi,

With the RTM just around the corner, there will be very little need to re-install drivers. Only Video/Sound should need downloading & installing. It would be wise to backup all your user data using Windows Easy Transfer - Transfer To & From Computers

    Hope this helps :)

Also, if you have only one HDD ensure to backup all your music, pictures, and other important information to another storage media (flashdrive, DVD/CDs). If you can afford it go to one of your local stores (Walmart, Target, Staples, etc.) and purchase a external HDD (you would be glad you did), they're not all that expensive in todays market, and they do come in handy for important information you may did later. :)

i am using windows 7 ultimate rtm temporarily (until i receive preordered dvd) and windows update offered me n-vidia driver update automatically which was a pleasant surprise as it all worker ok even without (my experienced colleague suggested to go ahead with download & install thereof because n-vidia's own software helps to better utilization of graphic card capabilities)
    - i was even more pleasantly surprised that windows update offered software update particularly for display and although it's a quality monitor, it's not any major brand (Hannspree)

Since there is an issue with ACPI and S3 mode with a few chipsets, I would recommend that you at least get the latest INF driver and latest bios for your system.

I always get the latest drivers and software for my OS, especially when you are dealing with a new OS. Afeter a while, it isn't as much an issue since most updates will be related to newer hardware.

I updated my BIOS yesterday, it wasn't major because it was an update for winflash utility and it said it would have support for microsoft's newer operating systems, and I'm assuming that means windows 7.
