Targus USB mouse problem

Here's my situation. I purchased a Targus AMU75us USB mouse a few months ago and now the thing has just stopped being recognized by my computer(Compaq Presario CQ62). I went online and found that there were other people having the same problem.

The main issue is that when I tried to download two driver installer packages, I got error messages reading: "Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Windows\Installer\MSI7340.tmp has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt. Error 3 was returned by WinVerifyTrust." The first error message listed MSI25DD.tmp and the second was MSI7340.tmp.

What the heck does all of this mean? Thanks very much to anyone who can help me w/this.

Hello ndex477

I think it means that the driver is either corrupt or maybe not for windows7 either way it looks like you cannot use it
The mouse should need no additional driver so I suggest connecting a wired mouse and following this; USB Driver - General Fix for Problems[2]=Hardware%20and%20Drivers
You will need to disconnect your USB mouse for this to work

I remember when I first used the mouse, it did not install it's own driver but used a Windows driver by default. Could that have something to do with it?

That is how it should work, but Windows sometimes gets confused and the only answer is to uninstall all old drivers and start again this is what the tutorial does,
If you take your time and go through it step for step it is not as daunting as it may first seem. but you will have to remove your USB mouse from the PC as it is the problem. Failing to do this will mean that, half way through the tutorial when you delete the drivers you will lose your mouse and not be able to continue.
