Hello hopi and welcome to the forums

Your computer isn't listed on the list of Windows 7 Compatible Dell systems:

Microsoft Windows 7 Compatible Dell Systems and System Requirements | Dell

Try running this to check whether you're alright running Windows 7 on your system:

Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

You have a pretty old system but you may be able to get an XP driver to work with Windows 7 by installing it in compatibility mode with WXP or WXP sp2 - To do this click the below link and download the driver, firstly, then this:

To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with XP/vista etc- check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

    Download: Drivers and Downloads

Have a look at this link for details (note this also works for W7) : You cannot install a device driver by using its installation program in Windows Vista

    hopi,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

Don't get too hopeful. When you check that "compatibility" option when installing a pgm or driver, you are simply running the install program in compatibility mode. This does NOT mean that the the program will then be compatible with Win 7.

What will quite ofter work is if there is a vista driver for your graphics, which then you must install in compatibility mode.

I make no promises, but you can help us to help you by following, precisely, the procedure I give below.

    UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
Your Profile (left-hand column, Edit System Spec |

    To gather info, use
Speccy - System Information - Free Download
or SIW or the System Info tool,
Use System Info to see your System Specs

Please add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
    “system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

    Specs for a Dimension e310,

    Documentation

Intel 915GV chipset which has no Windows 7 or Vista drivers as Intel never made any,

Graphics — Older Intel® graphics controllers and Microsoft Windows 7* operating system

As whest pointed out, the best you're going to get for it is the last XP driver.
