Bios update

Hi,
Does anyone know how to update bios in Acer Aspire 5738z because I can't do this in a default way when I run WFlash application from downloaded bios package I receive error message: "Open flash.sys fail' even when I do this in safe mode or as an administrator.
Maybe this resolve my DVD drive problem in Win 7.

Extract the zip file to a usb drive formatted in FAT 16 or 32 format. Run the setup program from there.

The next step is to download the BIOS again. You need to rule out a corrupted download. Please verify that you are getting the correct model number's BIOS.

Let's assume we cannot flash the BIOS. I cannot find any reference at Acer as to what the BIOS addresses. Let's see if the DVD problem is linked to the mobo. Please describe the DVD problem.

Both issues (flash bios and dvd) may be related.

Your DVD drive may need a firmware update

Well, I just read your DVD issue in the other thread. Sammy, firmware applied.

In the other thread, you stated that you have the same problem with your Aspire 5738z. Does this mean you have two machines with the same problem? I think that we are only dealing with one - the Aspire 5738z.

The BIOS may be failing due to the Chipset driver. If you have already updated the chipset driver, this can also cause problems, requiring the re-installation of other drivers.
