Is it possible to force-install drivers that are for other plattaforms

Basically, I'm trying to install the usb drivers for the SB5100 modem.
It seems they don't exist and my OS just refuses to use the drivers intended for Vista..
I came across this forum thread
Motorola sb5100, can it work with W7?
But since it's old I still have hope..
Any help would really be appreciated..

Well, I did what the tutorial said, and now it says it says I have to reinstall the drivers, but I can't cause it says I have the best driver software installed..

Thanks guys for the help! I guess some hardware just isn't compatible with Win7.. So the only solution to my problem that I have in mind is dual booting Vista and Windows 7.. I really appreciate the help you guys gave me!
