Have you tried to go in to Device Manager and see if the eithernet card has been disabled some where along the line? If your unsure of how to get into the device manager here is how to click on the win7 orb on the taskbar and go to "Computer" and right click and go to manage and then you will see device manager on the left had side amoung a bunch of other option and you should see one lable "Network Adapters" if you see yours there right click and you should see either "Disable" or "Enable" if disabled click enable and you should be good to go and if its not showing up heres what you can do. go and download the drivers for it from the maker of your computer and if built by you then the website of whom ever makes your mother board.
    Hope this helps you out.
