Looking for a suitable Display Adapter Driver

    Hello All,

I am using Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller as the Display Adapter on my Desktop which has an Intel 82845G Mother Board. The Driver Version is 6.14.10.4020. It is over 5 years old and Intel are no longer updating this. It runs on Windows 7 only in the compatibility mode.

I am seeking suggestions for a third-party replacement for this Driver. I have no idea how to find the replacement. I shall be grateful for any suggestions from the Forum Members in this regard.

    TIA

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the graphics controller itself is the problem. It doesn't support the shader model that vista or win 7 uses properly and has never been on the list of supported devices. This is a shortcoming in the hardware itself though.
So unfortunately your only real out is that if you have a desktop system. It's possible you can get a dirt cheap video card for it that will run win 7 properly.
If it's a laptop... you are kind of out of luck. Compatibility mode is probably the best you are going to get.

Thanks a lot for your input. The Window 7 adviser also said the that I shall have to get a replacement video card for my Desktop. But I thought that there was no harm looking for fresh opinions.

Thanks once again for your input.

The earlier nVidia card with WDDM drivers is the Geforce FX 5200. Another option would be to use the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver from Windows 8 (it is WDDM and supports most graphics cards) into Windows 7. I tried copying the relevant files in a USB stick to use in a old laptop running Windows 7 but installation fails while trying to install a specific service. I started a new thread asking if someone managed to do it and how. Let's hope it can be done, cross your fingers...
