Windows 7: Is it necessary to uninstall old AMD/NVidia drivers before updating?

A custom install of the NVIDIA driver uninstalls the old driver before installing the new one.

And i always check that box during a upgrade...

So I suppose technically I do uninstall the old first
I stand corrected.


Now that I think about it, it does infact uninstall first. Thanks!

I downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card yesterday from the nvidia site. Would like to hear the best way to install it. I've heard that if the old driver isn't removed properly then I'll have no end of problems. Any tips? Thanks.
