Will Nvidia beta drivers work on 64-bit?

I heard that 64 Bit Windows only lets you use signed drivers, does that mean that Nvidia's beta drivers won't work?

No, it just means that Windows is warning you that they don't comply with Microsoft's driver certification standards.

And as it is a beta driver, one wouldn't expect it to.

There's nothing to stop you trying to use the driver, but it may well throw up an error as in effect you are being asked by the software engineers to test their product before it's released to market.

However, you can always right-click the installer and choose Run as Administrator if you want to ignore the warning that the driver isn't signed.

Nvidia beta drivers are fine and will install like normal ones.

Wait a minute, with 32 bit windows I get a warning message saying the driver isn't signed but I can just click "Install anyway", but I've heard 64 bit completely disallows you from installing unsigned drivers at all... please advise?

You can disable driver signing via the Local Group Editor Policy if you want, although I'm not sure whether you can access it in Windows 7 Home Premium.

Click Start and type gpedit.msc in the Search field.

Click Gpedit under the Programs list that shows up then double-click Administrative Templates, System, Driver Installation, Code signing for device drivers then configure it as shown below.

However, you should be aware that you are leaving your computer at risk should you choose to install unsigned drivers.

Bit of confusion here regarding signed and WHQL drivers. Big difference between the two. Beta drivers have not been through Microsoft's WHQL process, but that doesn't mean that they aren't signed. If the beta Nvidia drivers weren't signed, then yes they wouldn't install on 64 bit. Not being WHQL just means you get the red warning box telling you that the driver hasn't been WHQL'ed by Microsoft.
