Asrock H67M / Etron USB: Can't access USB Mass Storage Devices anymore

Hi,

it's driving me mad
My system:
Asrock H67M Mainboard with Etron USB 2.0/3.0 chipset
Windows 7 Ultimate with all current fixes applied

The problem:
I just discovered by accident that no matter what USB Mass Storage device (USB-MSD) I plug into my PC (and also no matter if I plug it into USB 2.0 or 3.0) the loading/installation of the necessary driver fails!
If I go into 'Control Panel -> Device Manager' the plugged USB-MSD is detected correctly BUT it shows with an yellow exclamation mark stating the driver's corrupt/not loaded.
I tried ALL available drivers from Etron (from 0.06 to 0.105). I uninstalled the old ones, I re-booted etc. but no avail.
All other USB devices work absolutely fine!
It's only USB-MSD (I trieb 6 different ones).

Any help is greatly appreciated since I'm really not in the mood to re-install Win 7....

TIA
-ThyMaster

Hi ThyMaster, welcome to the forums , You say you have tried installing new drivers from Etron , have you tried the Asrock manufactured ones ASRock > Products > Motherboard > H67M > Download ? ,Usually it is always recommended to use the mobo manfs drivers also may be worthwhile reinstalling the chipset drivers while you are at it

Yes, I've installed them. Actually they were the ones installed when it failed.
Any other ideas? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,

first of all thanks a lot for all replies!
It turns out that is has nothing to do with the USB drivers.
It was caused by ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE HOME (ATIH) 2011 and 2012!
Here's some good reading (includung solutions):
http://http://forum.acronis.com/forum/26638
Code 39 error on usb external drives and flash drives with tdrpman273 problem. | Knowledge Base

I strongly advice everyone to not use, buy or install an Acronis product! It reproducible screws Winbdows 7 installation!

Glad you sorted it out! There have been issues reported with the paid Acronis but the free ones, say from Seagate, seem to work well.
