No Multimedia Controller, No Keyboard Filter

Recently replaced the spinny drive with an SSD and performed a clean install of Windows 7 Professional X64 on a Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv8t 1100. However, I am running into two issues.

    • Device and Printers reports that there is no Multimedia Controller installed.
    • Device and Printers reports that there is no keyboard filter installed.

So I click on "solve" and Win 7 directs me to a AVer MediaCenter driver which I download and install. However, Devices and Printers still reports no driver. Also, when I launch the AVer MediaCenter and go into the settings for it, I get the message, "Can't find AVerMedia TV tuner Cards."

Windows couldn't find anything at all for a keyboard filter. Nor was there anything on HP's driver site.

I scoured the HP driver web site for my device and came up empty as well. Google didn't return any useful info either or, maybe my g-foo is off.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi bug67, I can only suggest you let HPs diagnostic software run on your laptop and see if that finds the correct driver Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv8t-1100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Thanks for the reply. Kinda the reason I did a clean install was to get rid of all the HP bloat that came from the factory. Included in that bloat was the automated HP Adviser and HP Support Assistant software. So, that software is no longer on my system and I really do not want to re-install it. Anything else?

    EDIT:

I guess I'll go ahead and install the Support Assistant and see what it comes up with. I can disable/uninstall later if I want. I will report back...

    EDIT 2.0:

HP Support Assistant didn't solve anything.

Using this tutorial, I found out the vender for the TV tuner:

    Hardware ID = PCI\VEN_1131&DEV_7160&SUBSYS_10551461&REV_03
    Chip Number: Phillips SAA7134E, TDA10046 and TDA8275A
    Chip Description: PCI\VEN_13D0&SUBSYS_210313D0&REV_02
Notes: PCI TV Tuner driver - HP Device Driver SP36917
But I can't find that driver anywhere, at least not from anywhere reputable.

    EDIT:

I found the driver here but, it looks like it's for Vista. I tried to install in compatibility mode but it didn't work.

    Yeah, I did.

Oh, well. When I bought this laptop, I thought I'd be using the TV tuner but, I never do. It's just one of those pesty things. Something's not working like it's supposed to and it bothers me.

    Thanks for sticking with me.

No. I deleted it after it didn't install and don't feel like messing with it right now.

I might give it a go later on but, like I said, it's something I never use and it's not affecting anything anyhow. Again, thanks for the help.
