If you can get to the drive then do a search for any old registry files, try using *.reg and see if anything pulls up, if so use the one that is the newest but before the problem started.
You can also use the find function inside of regedit to locate the file that you are looking for.

luckily i had RegBack files from the 20th of december otherwise i would have been screwed haha cant believe it was a simple copy over job in the end thats had me screwed for like a week!! also windows updates was always off.. so i dont see why it installed, but anyway thanks you for the help

time to do some work i suppose.. lol
