upgrading driver

hi i'm trying to install "skyrim" which i got for $10 bucks at a swapmeet. it requests that i update my driver (driver 9.0x (?). but i am uncertain, maybe it's an virus or something. so do you think i should go ahead and upgrade? .and also i can't find where my "driver" is located on my XP. any help would be great, (please don't email, it's busted) thank you

If that's the role playing pc game the message is probably indicating that Direct X 9 or the last 9c is required. Since you are running XP you likely already have that on but can still download the redistributable version from Download: DirectX 9.0c October 2005 - Redistributable for Software Developers - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

The online magazine PC GAMER lists the system requirements at The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim PC system requirements

That also show DX 9c being advised there as well.
