Driver install

Hi
My acer aspire 7736z.is about 2 years old now.I am thinking drivers, there must be a lot of them, that needs updating, some say:find them your selves, another advice:let windows update take care of this, and a 3 possibility is "driver help software".and i have got that S... also.the question is can i use these "driver wizards" for anything at all, then please let me know.
the software i am talking about,is in my case,Driver genius professional edition, and the other product from uniblueowersuite, where driverscanner is included.

any answers/oppinions recieved with respect and a

kind regards asser

Always use the OEM manufacturer's website for driver updates. Not the Windows updateer as it loves to misled.

Check the ACER website for Drivers Updates.

I agree with theog.

I once let Windows update my NVIDIA Geforce GTX 460 graphics card, which resulted in the occasional BSOD.

Rolling back to Dell's OEM driver cured the problem.

You'll also find that OEM manufacturer's drivers may be configured differently to the hardware manufacturer's drivers, which is another reason for using OEM software for OEM hardware, in my view.

One more opinion FWIW.

I'll occasionally use a driver scanning program just to see what it flags as outdated. (Almost all of them offer free scans.) Then I'll visit the manufacturers' websites to see if their latest and greatest drivers match up with the scanning tool. I'll make note of the updated driver(s) for future reference, but if my computer isn't having any issues my motto is, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

And if I ever do update a driver I'll make sure to create at least a restore point if not a full system image just in case the update hoses my machine.
