NEC USB 3.0 Driver installed, but USB device using USB 2 Driver

I have just bought a USB 3.0 PCIe adaptor with 2 ports. It is marked up as ASRock. It came with an installation CD which went through all the motions of installing the NEC device driver, finally restarting the computer.

However, the performance is the same as my USB 2 ports, and looking in device manager, it appears to be using the Microsoft USB drivers. I have tried removing and reinstalling the device but it insists that the drivers loaded are the latest.

I should much like some help with this one...
