F5D7000, Checked the back of my card.

Not sure if that 5 is an S, couldn't see properly. Had to tilt my computer just to see it.

Sorry for the mistake above. Also if this makes any difference, it was a clean install from XP. I reformatted to XP and my internet works now but I can't just upgrade. I was hoping if I just upgraded instead of a clean install it would allow me to keep my internet.

I don't know the rest of the specs of your computer, and if it qualifies for win7, but if it does you could always get another wireless card.
    They are cheap.

    Good luck

Edit: there is a vista driver for your card at the site I gave you in one of my previous posts.

Vista drivers work in win 7 as long as they are the same OS. Vista 32 works in win 7 32bit. ALso they may need to be installed in the vista compatibility mode

How would you install it in vista compatibility mode? Also, without internet at first on windows 7, would I be able to install the driver if I downloaded it now into an usb and then opened it up in windows 7?

    Yes you would.

    One word of caution.
Please make sure you backup everything. Not only files, but also think of your favorites, your email addresses, etc..

    And a word of advice.

From the questions you ask I gather you are not very experienced at installing a new OS.
I would advise you to get a more experienced friend to assist you.

There are a million things that can go wrong.

    Good luck

This thread should be combined with this. Same man, same issue, basicly the same question.

Strange? In the older thread he had already installed windows 7.
In this thread he talks about the upgrade advisor.

Well, maybe this is his second attempt.
