HP Photosmart Driver does not work with latest Windows Update

Since latest Win 7 update, I have a problem with HP Photosmart D7460 printer which is directly connected via usb to computer. Document goes into print queue, prints for a couple seconds, then stops. Document then disappears from the print queue.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a freshly downloaded driver with updates and replacing usb cable. Restarted spooler service. Printer prints fine if I try to print from a media card plugged directly into the printer, and it prints fine when connected to a Mac.

It is an issue with documents from several applications, text or pictures. Has anyone else noticed issues with hp drivers since the most recent update of Win7?

What if you delete your printer from devices and printers, unplug printer, reboot pc, reinstall usb printer in different usb port?

    Thank you Lemur

    Hi Lemur,

Thank you for your suggestions. I did try them to no avail. Have since plugged the printer into a mac on the same network, and while I am still working out a few login issues over the network, I can now print again:) So, at the moment, life is good! We'll see what next week brings...

Thank you for your input and have a great day!

Try outing the printer, unplug the printers usb cable, restart the computer and let it recognize new hardware and Windows will put in the HP driver it has, then plug the printers usb cable back in and it should work.

I had a HP Photosmart printer as well, that thing was nothing but trouble. I would recommend getting a new one if yours does not start working good after trying to fix it.

I've got a HP 7960 Photosmart probably 8 years old running on Win 7 and it works perfectly and it's on Win 7 HP driver.
