GeForce 8200P / GeForce 8200P-A-AR? nvidia auto update is wrong?

i have a acer aspire x3400g. back to factory default settings. all windows updates.

last time i did a restore nvidia told me the current drivers was 15.46whql or something. but now its saying GeForce 8200P / GeForce 8200P-A-AR is the latest motherboard drivers? what is that anyways. i cant get no search on it. somebody help me. i think since i might have the wrong smbus controller for my chipset that my wifi is dropping with my brand new ae2500 adapter from linksys with a 3200 new router also. thanks in advance.

nForce is chip-set, GeForce is graphics. I would say that GeForce 8200P / GeForce 8200P-A-AR is refering to your graphics card not your chip-set.

Go to Acer's support site:

Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Aspire / Aspire X3400G

Make sure you update all drivers from there.

Also, your Linksys ae2500 driver can be found at:

http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downl...in7_WHQL,0.zip

Stay away from NVidia auto update for the moment.

Is your system functioning correctly?

AlphaNumeric is correct.

NVIDIA GeForce 8200 mGPU

Again, you can download the video driver at the link above. Or you can grab it from NVidia's site.

Finally, you can look at your device manager and see if you have any yellow warning, which would indicate a problem with your controller. But do it in the order listed above.

lol, I guess I'm getting old and slow. By the time I looked up those links and was ready to post them you guys had them already. I'm glad I refreshed the page before this post. I don't put much faith in that nVidia auto detection app, it has never worked correctly on any of my PC's.

I agree, aphanumeric. Some sites I really do trust their autodetect, but NVidia has not always been spot on.

the thing is. my gpu is actually a 9200!, but my mother board is different. for instance when i went to the acer page and downloaded the chipset it didnt give me a graphics install which a chipset install package usually does, its because my computer actually has a 9200 in it which is different thing

I don't know what to tell you. I know for my motherboard which is a 7025/630a chip set, the 7025 is the onboard integrated video and 630a is the actual chip set. The nVidia nForce driver for my motherboard contains video, ethernet, IDE and SMBUS drivers. The nVidia GeForce driver for my GT220 is a separate download and only contains the video driver. I do believe you can find what you need if follow that Acer support link in Lemur's post. If not post back and we'll go from there.

well it seems everything is updated. its just wierd that instead the nvidia website is identifying my motherboard as that, and it shows a -- under current driver installed, when the first time i bought my computer at factory defaults it showed the current drivers as 15.47 whql or something like that. but everything seems to be running fine i guess. i just dont wanna ruin my computer. thanks guys.
