    Canon MX850 x64 issues - my fix

If anyone has a Canon MX850 printer and is unable to get scanning to work over ethernet, I posted my fix here:

Canon MX850 - Anyone get network scanner to work?

If anyone has any problems installing the network drivers, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Canon has released Windows 7 x86/x64 drivers for the MX850.

I haven't had any issues with the latest drivers. How did you install everything?

im using x86 on my netbook. i copied the cd onto an sd card and hit express install. it appears as if works, but doesn't. when looking at the printers in control panel, the print spooler crashes.

i also tried using the updated canon drivers on their website, but no go.
so i'm not sure if it's a 7 bug or a canon drivers bug.

but this print spooler crashing is on my school printer as well that uses pharos drivers to print stuff.

i'm assuming this is a 7 bug with drivers that needs to be updated asap. it's annoying to go home to print something or wait in line at a lab just to print something.

Uninstall everything you installed. Reboot. Now, only use the downloaded drivers from Canon.

Is the MX850 a network printer, ie: you do not use USB? If so, install the driver and at the end, click the manual button. Find the Canon printer port and select it. Then, install the network utilities.

installed via ethernet through my router.

the problem is i couldn't uninstall it without "force" starting my print spooler. this network printer crashes my print spooler.
