Can I change com numbers on my windows

Hi, I'm a newbie here and I've loaded a prolific programme in my computer and it can't go lower than com7, I would like to change it for lower, like com1 or 2.

Welcome apivin to the windows 7 forums.

You might help by filling out the system spec's on your system.

Also, Is your problem that the program your trying to run requires a com port higher than 7?

You can in most cases, in your system configuration rename the com port to a higher number.

Detailed system specs would help, specifically, motherboard make and model.
Also screen shots taken with the snipping tool would also help us understand the problem.

You could use either Speccy or use SevenForums Own Software to gather your system specs.

To take a screenshot either use the Snipping Tool (Start - Accessories - Snipping Tool, Snip out the System Specs and Save it. Or use Paint by pressing Print Screen on your Keyboard, go to Start - Accessories - Paint, press CTRL+V and Save it.

To upload the saved image, you can either upload to it a hosting site like imgur and type the url of the img and in front and behind are [IMG] codes.

    For example

[NOTE]There would not be any spaces between the "]" and the "i" and there would not be any spaces between the "m" and the "[".

However since this way is more complicated, I suggest you use this tutorial:
