Um, I just realized - with the new driver versions you don't get Catalyst Control Centre anymore - you get the AMD Vision Engine - which is what I had before. But I'll try this again.
Almost but not quite. If you have an AMD chipset and CPU pairred with an AMD video card, then you get the VECC. If you have an Intel or Nvidia chipset, then it still installs as CCC.

This seems true, though theToshiba drivers for my model included Catalyst Control Centre, but since I've installed the 12.3 RC from AMD, I get the VECC instead.

Well your Toshiba does have an AMD CPU and AMD chipset in it, so that is why it is no showing as VECC. Also the change occurred some time in the last 6 months or so, which is well after when your laptop came out.

P.S. You are also lucky that the reference AMD driver even installed. Seems Toshiba has finally relented on whatever licensing agreement/restriction they had with AMD with regards to drivers.

@stormy13 Yes, I got my laptop as a present in March 2011. So if they changed things a bit from the last 6 months, that is well after I got my laptop Good thing I was able to install the drivers. Because now, with this new driver, it says 'AMD 6500/6700/5600 Series' instead of 'AMD 5650'. But the driver is working fine btw.
