Have a look at this Microsoft article.
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
You can also uninstall the drive, and then see if Windows 7 reinstalls it on startup.
You can also check with the drive manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available.
