Missing Thumbnail Previews not long after updating Driver

A week after downloading the new GeForce GT 540 drivers I started getting a rippling effect rolling up my screen only while I play video game (COD2). It was the same day that my parents maid came and cleaned and she cleaned my laptop (Asus K53SV) and knocked it off dual monitor somehow. Could she have caused the effect too?

Anyway, my only thought was that it was the driver so I rolled back to the old driver. When it came back, my windows frame and taskbar colors were much lighter colored and the Thumbnail previewer changed to a list. No problem, I switched back to the new driver (rippling effect never went away) and all was fine with Thumbnails.

Today (several days later), I started up the puter and the colors were lighter on Windows and the Tumbnails Previewer was gone. So I rolled back the driver and reinstalled new drivers and nothing changed. I googled the problem and found Brink's instructions to save Thumbnail Previewer thing to desktop and hit merge, etc. and restarted and still no Previewer.

    Any thoughts?

A maid? Tell her to keep out of your room, heh.

Is the problem all your thumbnail pictures are the generic extension graphic instead of a miniature of the picture itself? If so run "Disk Cleanup", make sure "Thumbnails" is checked, and click "Clean system files".

If that doesn't work check out THIS post. *Hat tip to A Guy*

Yeah, a maid, I'm an adult male who lost his house and live with Mom and Dad for the time being. My puter is in the loft, not in my room. I'm not even sure its the maids fault, except that I first noticed the dual monitor removal and the rippling effect the night she came. I just assumed she dusted the keyboard of my laptop and this was the result. However my laptop would have been in hibernate so how it would have happened is beyond me.

As for the Thumbnails missing on my taskbar (its now in listmode) and color change to my windows, I went to diskcleanup and it removed the thumbnails as I always do once a week. Nothings changed. Thanks for trying to help.
