    Minidriver for unknown smart card

    CALLING ALL SMARTCARD GENIAE!

    Hey guys,

Although I'm using Windows 8, the cryptography and smart card services are identical to Windows 7 and this forum has far more exposure than the Windows 8 forum.

Basically, I have a Omnikey Cardman 4040 (PCMCIA) and a bunch of Smart Cards (SLE4442) which is compatible. Only problem is the ATR comes back to a "PM2P Chipkarte SLE 4442" i.e. an unheard of Smart Card type, with no drivers!

Would I have to compile my own minidriver? It is possible? And how would I go about it?

    Cheers!

Ok, so I managed to add a driver using OpenPGPs "generic" driver and modifying an INF file with the ATR of the card etc and it is now recognised. Only problem is, using the program "EIDAuthenticate" it won't allow me to add a certificate to the card.

Would that be the case if the driver didn't have provisions in it to add certs to the card i.e. only read only or something?

    Thanks!
