Need win 7 x86 audio driver for HP zd8215us

read a thread where baarod helped many people find rare drivers. I have tried the method he describes with mic update cat but still can't seem to find the correct driver.
    device id:
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_3082103C&REV_03
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_3082103C
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_0401

    hp pavilion zd8215us
    Windows 7 x86

I really don't want to go back to xp but I have tried more than 20 different audio drivers so far with no success (and I consider myself very computer savvy)

there were a couple of links to drivers posted by baarod in that thread that were for the same model but the links are dead

They only have XP drivers - you can verify that yourself, if necessary.

There is also a good chance that the XP driver will work. It mat take using Compatibility Mode to get it to install, but it should work.

@tman69: Of course I checked HP's website. if they had the driver, I wouldn't be in this forum.

@stormy13: I would've tried the xp version just for the hell of it, but as you can see there is no audio driver listed with the xp drivers for this machine

Using the DevID you posted, according to here,

    PCI Vendor and Device Lists

it is an Intel based chipset with Via AC'97 audio. That said Via doesn't have a Windows 7 driver for it but they do have a Vista driver (work your way through the dropdowns to get to it),

VIA Drivers Download - VIA Technologies, Inc.

that if that is what the laptop has, should work. No promises, but worth a shot.

    Solved

Got it. I went back to the Microsoft Update Catalog and tried a manual install of one of the xp drivers listed there and it worked. Thanks again to baarod for his MUC tutorial and thanks to stormy13 for reminding me to try the xp driver
