This morning I knocked a cup of coffee, complete with cream and sugar, into the DVD drive on my new Dell Studio 540 just to see what would happen
[!] Predictably, it stuck the drive door solid. Here's what I did to open it and correct the problem:
1. With the computer ON..
2. Do the paper clip thingy described elsewere-- use the large size.
3. Stick the paper clip in as far as it will go--there are at least two levels of depth to plumb.
4. Press the paper clip into the release hole with one hand; with the other right-click the mouse, select <reject> on the pull-down menu.
This combined effort should pop the carousel & disc out.
Clean coffeed surfaces with a Q-tip and alcohol. With another rub Vasoline on the railinigs of the carousel as a preventative measure.
