Disc stuck in Dell Studio 1535  

Get to the lens and clean it with a Q-Tip and a very small amount of rubbing alcohol. Clean alcohol off lens immediately too with a dry Q-Tip.

I fixed many optical drives like this. If that doesn't work, your only last hope is a firmware upgrade.

You could also fix CDs or to lesser extent, DVDs that will not play by using white toothpaste. Streak it from the center to the edge, using your thumb as sandpaper untill blemishes are gone. Clean it with water and your thumb from center to edge. Dry it. Put in computer and copy to new disc or make .iso.

I also have this dell studio 1535..... I find this optiarc slot load dvd drive is the worst piece of **** in it.....

This morning I knocked a cup of coffee, complete with cream and sugar, into the DVD drive on my new Dell Studio 540 just to see what would happen :) [!] Predictably, it stuck the drive door solid. Here's what I did to open it and correct the problem:
1. With the computer ON..
2. Do the paper clip thingy described elsewere-- use the large size.
3. Stick the paper clip in as far as it will go--there are at least two levels of depth to plumb.
4. Press the paper clip into the release hole with one hand; with the other right-click the mouse, select <reject> on the pull-down menu.

This combined effort should pop the carousel & disc out.

Clean coffeed surfaces with a Q-tip and alcohol. With another rub Vasoline on the railinigs of the carousel as a preventative measure.

The related posts on unsticking a drive only go so far. The DVD drive stuck on my Dell running Win 7. Here's what worked:

turn machine on, straighten a large paper clip and insert straight into the release hole (there will be two levels to pumb), hold the clip firmly in place. With your other hand right click on the drive icon, move to <eject> on the menu and left click on that selection.

The drive should pop open without taking it apart.

Clean the drive rails with a Q-Tip & alcohol.
Use a little Vasoline on another Q-Tip to lightly lubricate the rails top and bottom.

I have tried this method with 1555 and cant see anything because of flaps covering any view of the interior, so any ideas? And can u tell me where on the driver it is e.g which side left or right

While almost all tray loading CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Drives have the emergency eject pin hole others have described most slot loading CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Drives do not. Generally they have a button on the keyboard specifically to allow the user to force a manual eject if the disk does not eject, sometimes they have a touch sensitive button but your manual will explain which type it has. Last ditch would be to hold the button down when booting into Windows and this should release it. If none of this works s pair of long nosed tweezers with a little piece of rubber attached to it (where they do physical therapy might be willing to slice a section off for you) glued on each tweezer face will allow you to grab the very most outer edge as the data is a bit more inboard.
